He was influenced by the architectural movement of the time - using new and innovative materials and technologies to illustrate the idea that form should follow function and an embrace of minimalism. The back of the house offers southern exposure with an overhang designed to provide passive solar heating in the winter months when the low sun reaches almost across the living space. During the summer months, the sun does not reach into the living space minimizing the cooling effort. A unique window wall made up of five 8' by 8" thermopane windows are canted out at a 7 degree angle so when sitting or standing, you do not see a reflection of yourself.
